Program
Youth goalkeeper training by age
We train young goalkeepers in two age bands, 6 to 12 and 13 to 17, because a first-year keeper and a high school starter need different training. We train both groups in Orange County and the Inland Empire.

Where it runs
Ages 6 to 12: building the foundation
Young goalkeepers learn best through games and short challenges. At this stage we focus on:
- Coordination and footwork, with quick feet and balance exercises.
- Catching shapes, the basket for low balls and the W for chest and head height.
- Safe falling and early diving, progressing from kneeling to standing.
- Bravery and fun, so goalkeepers want to come back next week.
Ages 13 to 17: preparing for competitive soccer
Older goalkeepers face faster shots, crosses into crowded boxes and more tactical games. Training moves to:
- Explosive diving and recovery, getting up and set for the rebound.
- Crosses and high balls, timing, communication and punching.
- One-on-ones and angle play, closing space without overcommitting.
- Distribution, building play from the back with hands and feet.
- Game management, organizing the defense and staying focused for 90 minutes.
Same method, different speed
Both groups follow the academy method: technique first, many repetitions and clear feedback. What changes is the speed, the intensity and the decisions each goalkeeper is ready for.
Questions parents ask
What is the best age to start goalkeeper training?
Goalkeepers can start at 6. At that age the focus is coordination, catching and falling safely. Starting early builds good habits before bad ones form.
Is diving safe for young kids?
Yes, when it is taught progressively. Young goalkeepers learn to dive from kneeling and low positions before standing dives, and always on soft surfaces.
My child only plays goalkeeper sometimes. Should they still train?
Yes. Many young players rotate positions. Goalkeeper training builds confidence and coordination that also helps field players.
How much does youth goalkeeper training cost?
Group training is a monthly subscription: $160 per month for one session a week, or $220 per month for Unlimited, which lets your goalkeeper train twice a week or at every group session. Cancel anytime.
What age groups train together?
Groups are organized by age and level. In Upland, for example, ages 8 to 13 and 14 to 16 train in separate hours.
