Indoor goalkeeper training in the Inland Empire

Our Upland sessions take place inside the Scheu Family YMCA of Upland, on an indoor turf arena. For goalkeepers, an indoor surface has real advantages: the ball behaves the same every week, the lighting is consistent in the evening, and training continues on hot summer afternoons and rainy winter nights.

It is also the environment where our head coach plays professionally. Claysson De Lima has spent his professional career in the Major Arena Soccer League, an indoor league where shots come from close range and reactions decide games. Indoor work sharpens exactly the skills young goalkeepers need outdoors: a quick set position, fast hands, brave decisions and getting up immediately for the rebound.

Friday groups by age

Upland sessions run on Friday evenings and are split by age so every goalkeeper trains at the right speed:

  • 7:00 to 8:00 pm, ages 8 to 13. Footwork, catching technique, safe diving progressions and game situations adapted to younger keepers.
  • 8:00 to 9:00 pm, ages 14 to 16. Explosive diving, crosses, one-on-ones and distribution for goalkeepers playing competitive club and high school soccer.

If your goalkeeper is between groups, tell us their age and level and we will place them where they will progress fastest.

Who trains in Upland

Families come to Upland from across the western Inland Empire, including Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, Claremont, Montclair, Chino and Fontana. Goalkeepers keep playing for their clubs and use the academy for the position-specific work team practice cannot always offer.

Upland is also where we run summer camp. Our 2026 summer camp at the YMCA brought together goalkeepers ages 8 to 16 for three days of training with the academy staff.

What to expect at your first session

Arrive a few minutes early so the coach can meet your goalkeeper and ask about their experience and club. The session starts with a dynamic warm-up, moves into a technical block on the theme of the week and finishes with game situations. Parents are welcome to stay and watch from the side.

After the session the coach will share what your goalkeeper did well and what to work on next.

Private training in Upland

Private one-on-one sessions are also available in Upland for goalkeepers preparing for tryouts, moving up an age group or fixing a specific habit. Send us a request with your preferred days and we will reply the same day with available times.
